Brooke Krancer*

Brooke Krancer graduated from Penn in 2020, where she studied History and Art History. She joined the Penn & Slavery Project in the fall of 2017 after taking Professor Kathleen Brown’s “Deciphering America” course. She began her work on the project by looking at the ties of the University’s early trustees to the slave trade. Her research came to focus on Benjamin Rush and his influence on race science in the medical school in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. She previously worked as a Cole Fellow at the Thomas Cole National Historic Site, and now works at the Yale Center for British Art.
